Today, there are so many stations in so many markets that are all trying to serve the same "demographic".  If you must do that to satisfy agency buys, so be it.  But if you make most your revenue off local sales, there are ways to be a bit "different" and capitalize on revenues that would otherwise go untapped. 

We seem to be locked into only one method of programming and thus, we all begin to sound alike.  Rotation of songs doesn't count.  Having catchy lines doesn't cut it either.

What you need is a fresh, interactive sound that crosses the restrictive "demographic" boundaries.  A sound that is once again fun and entertaining.
